Begin Request For PDA

ABS Type Approval Product Design Assessment (PDA) and PDA Duplicate Request

We make it easy for you! After you submit your request, we will be in contact with a proposed quote for service with an option to sign. A signed quote enables us to proceed with your request.

Eligibility: Once approved, visit the ABS-approved Type Approval Database for easy access to lookup your company information, including the ABS Type Approval Certificate and Certificate Number from your profile. Upon submission of your request, we wil send you a fee proposal based on the scope of your project.

Type Of Request

PDA Revision: Non-major changes to an existing PDA, expiration remains unchanged. PDA Revalidation: Renewal of a PDA when it's coming due, or major design changes to an existing PDA, 5-year validity.

PDA Duplicate Company Information

A Manufacturing Assessment Certificate is required within 90 days of PDA-DUP issuance. A valid PDA-DUP, as well as ISO 9001 Certification, or equivalent, are required.

Copies of drawings, test reports, and data need to be ready on site when ABS Survevors attend the audit.

The MA annual/renewal audits are to be kept current and any lapse in excess of 90 days will stop the publishing of the PDA-DUP.

PDA Information

USCG Eligible products: Davits, winches. EU MR Type Approval: Products that are type approved by all Class Societies with EU Recognized Organization (RO) status. Eligible products are listed on EU RO MR Website. The scheme consists of design evaluation and product quality assurance.
