Gas Solutions, Global Reach

For more than 50 years, we have classed LPG and LNG carriers – including the first conversion of a cargo vessel to carry LPG, the first purpose-built LNG carrier and the first Very Large Ethane Carrier (VLEC).

The ABS Global Gas Solutions team provides industry leadership, offering guidance in liquefied natural gas (LNG) floating structures and systems, gas fuel systems and equipment, gas carriers and regulatory requirements. The team also offers specification reviews, risk and hazard assessments, LNG bunkering suitability reviews, project management for new construction and feasibility studies.

ABS provides industry-leading classification, preliminary planning, and advice as well as approvals in principle (AIP) for the next generation of innovative designs and systems. Some of the advanced projects ABS is supporting include ammonia-fueled LPG carriers that can be converted into ammonia (NH₃) carriers, compressed hydrogen carriers, liquefied hydrogen (LH₂) carriers and liquid CO₂ (LCO₂) carriers.
