USCG Safety Alert 13-15 - Ultra Low Sulfur Fuel Oil

The US Coast Guard (USCG) has issued a revision to its Safety Alert 2-15, “Ultra Low Sulfur [ULS] fuel Oil & Compliance with MARPOL Requirements Before Entering and While Operating Within Emission Control Areas (ECAs)”, in a new Safety Alert 13-15. This new alert adds two recommendations to Owners and Operators to consider any impact on maneuvering characteristics when using ULS, and the necessity to provide appropriate information to pilots.
