Hong Kong Air Pollution Control Measures
The Hong Kong Legislative Council has approved the Air Pollution Control (Fuel for Vessels) Regulation (Cap. 311AB). As of 1 January 2019, all vessels except for vessel types listed in Part 1/Section 3 and those vessels employing alternative technologies (e.g., exhaust gas cleaning systems) that have received an exemption from the Hong Kong Authority under Part 2/Section 7 of the Regulation, are required to use compliant fuel when transiting or berthing within Hong Kong waters. Compliant fuel is fuel not exceeding 0.50% Sulphur, liquefied natural gas or a fuel approved by the Hong Kong Authority.
